Android: How to Factory Reset An Android (Gingerbread) Device

Lots of users want to factory reset there phone but What is Factory Reset?

What is Factory Reset?

Factory Reset is a process in which you make your device as closely as possible to its original buying state. All the data and information or personal information will be removed from the device. And the device will be left clean.

Yes there is one other thing like, if you are using the 2.3.3 version of Android and 2.3.4 version is already out you would be likely to upgrade your device to 2.3.4 when you are going to do the factory reset.

At the end of the Factory Reset the device will ask you that you want to Reset the SD card as well. Its entirely up to you if you want to do it or not. All the Application will be removed from the device, of course Android Market will remember your paid Application but the free application will most likely be removed as well. Even if the applications are installed on the SD card, you will still need to re-install all the application after finishing the process.
If you have bought a used phone then Factory Reset is recommended and also if you are returning a phone to company and selling your phone then your must do the factory reset because it will prevent any one from stealing your personal data from the device.

Things To Make Sure Before Re-Setting Your Device [Tips]

1: Make sure you put your phone on charge before starting this process because if your phone goes off during the process it can possibly brick your phone.

2: Make sure that Google’s backup is enabled. To enable Google’s backup go to Setting>Privacy>Backup my data.

3: If you are not going to wipe your SD card then we recommend you to transfer all your contacts to your SD card. To transfer contacts to SD cards, go to Contacts then in the bottom right corner of the screen select Back up contacts, then choose Memory card as a storage place.

4: If you want to make the list of all the applications you have on your device, you can find the list through Settings>Applications>Manage Applications.
